Statements of Affirmation
Session 1 - Frank Macchia
Appointed Messiah and Lord: Towards a Pentecostal Spirit Christology

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to recognise a Spirit Christology that flows from the cross to Pentecost, in which Christ, appointed as Lord and Messiah, is our Spirit Baptiser, reconciling humanity to God in communion. We believe that the same Spirit who worked in Jesus is working in us today.

Session 2 - Amos Yong
Harmonising the Many Tongues Within: A Pentecost Exploration of Internal Family Systems

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to develop a pneumatological anthropology that can be complemented by social science models (like Internal Family Systems) and undergirded with theologies that are holistic, embodied, and engaged.

Session 3 - Roger Heuser
Pentecostals and the Mystical Threefold Path in Historic Christian Spirituality: Strengthening the Inner Being with Power Through the Spirit

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to recover the mystical traditions of historic Christian spirituality, embracing the Spirit’s purgative, illuminative, and unitive work. We believe that the Spirit will overflow through us as we are purified and transformed by God’s love.

Session 4 - Craig Keener
Paul Taught Mutual Submission

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to model the restoration of God’s original creation harmony between man and woman before the Fall by affirming the Spirit’s call to unity and mutual submission in marriage.

Session 5 - Amos Yong
Many Tongues, Many Professions: Toward a Pentecostal Theology of Vocation

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to recognise a Pentecostal theology of vocation in which the Spirit’s outpouring at Pentecost empowers believers to bear witness through a plurality of vocations, all of which are a Spirit-filled expression of divine calling.

Session 6 - Frank Macchia
Election: A Pentecostal Reflection

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to embrace election as God’s gracious promise for all humanity—a gift of grace actualised by faith and fulfilled in Christ, who is both the Elector and Elect for our sake.

Session 7 - Heidi Campbell
Lessons from Letters to Churches in the Digital Age: Why Pentecostalism Needs a Digital Theology

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to develop a Pentecostal digital theology that neither rejects nor idolises technology, but discerns how digital tools may serve God’s purposes and reflect the Spirit’s presence in our mediated world.

Session 8 - Ivan Satyavrata
"Empowering the Empty-Handed": Spirit-Power and the Church-in-Mission

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to embody the Spirit’s mission in sacrificial service, justice, and holistic transformation, empowering the “empty-handed” to flourish in life.

Session 9 - Simon Chan
The Liturgy and the Already-Not Yet Problematic: Towards a Holistic Pentecostal Spirituality

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to develop a Pentecostal spirituality in which liturgy mediates and enables the Church to live out the eschatological tension of the “already” and “not yet,” shaping believers into a holistic Pentecostal life.

Session 10 - Joy Qualls and Wayne Choong
Youth as Pneumatological Agents: Toward a Pentecostal Theology of Youth

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to develop a Pentecostal theology of youth that recognises and affirms young people as pneumatological agents—Spirit-empowered partners in God’s ongoing mission—committing ourselves to intergenerational discernment and discipleship that listens, empowers, and accompanies, so that the whole Church may be renewed by the Spirit’s work through them.

Session 11 - Wonsuk Ma and Julie Ma
Theological Tasks for Spirit-Empowered Mission in Asia

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to actively disciple and pursue the dynamic integration of our missional mandate with our theological Pentecostal distinctives—which includes Spirit baptism, the prophethood of all believers, signs & wonders, Spirit-empowered engagement with other religions, and faithful witness amid human suffering and poverty across Asia.

Session 12 - Craig Keener
Paul Supported the Ministry of Women

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to recognise and advance the Spirit’s empowerment of an egalitarian and inclusive pneumatological ecclesiology birthed at Pentecost—advocating the full participation of women, alongside men, in every level of ministry for the flourishing of the global Church.

Session 13 - Kong Hee
Simultaneous Glossolalia: A Theological Survey

We Asian Pentecostals resolve to reclaim the practice of simultaneous glossolalia in our church’s corporate settings, recognising it as a distinctive gift of the Spirit to the Pentecostal Church—bringing deep renewal, divine encounters, and missionary zeal.
