About The Speaker

Douglas Petersen holds a PhD from the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies and an MA from Pepperdine University. He is recognised as one of the foremost ethicists and Pentecostal leaders in the world today. He was the Margaret S. Smith Distinguished Professor of world missions and intercultural studies at Vanguard University. He currently serves as the Distinguished Professor of Theology at the School of Theology in Singapore.

Prof Doug and his wife Myrna founded Latin America Childcare (currently ChildHope), a non-profit organisation that provides education, food, and medical programmes to 100,000 children in 300 schools across 22 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

His scholarly works include Called and Empowered: Pentecostal Mission in Global Perspective (1991), The Globalization of Pentecostalism: A Religion Made to Travel (1999), and Voices Loud & Clear (2024). He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Pentecostal Studies in 2016, and was honoured for 50 years in ministry by the SoCal Network of the Assemblies of God in San Diego in 2022.
